A Commitment to a Brighter Future
As we mark our 100th anniversary, EK is proud to launch a year-long celebration that not only honors our rich history but also paves the way for future success. Our mission has always been to enrich people's lives, and this milestone is an opportunity to give back to society in meaningful ways.
European Umbrella and Local Activation
Under the EU CAN KIDS alliance, we are activating local collaborations in our key markets. In the Netherlands, we partner with the Princess Máxima Centrum, and in Germany, we collaborate with the Hopp-Kindertumorzentrum Heidelberg (KiTZ). These partnerships enhance our efforts to support pediatric cancer research and treatment at both the european and local levels. Supporting EU CAN KIDS – for a childhood without cancer
In line with our commitment to social responsibility as a european cooperative, we are proud to support the EU CAN KIDS initiative, a strategic alliance of leading European pediatric cancer centers, including the Hopp-Kindertumorzentrum Heidelberg (KiTZ), the Princess Máxima Centrum in Utrecht, and the Institut Curie in Paris. This collaboration aims to advance childhood cancer research, providing new, tailored treatment options and accelerating access to molecular tumor analyses and multidisciplinary studies across Europe.

KiTZ - the Hopp-Kindertumorzentrum Heidelberg
The Hopp-Kindertumorzentrum Heidelberg (KiTZ) is a joint institution of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), and Heidelberg University (Uni HD). As a therapy and research center for childhood cancer, KiTZ explores the biology of childhood cancer and links research with patient care. Children, especially those without established therapy options, receive individualized therapy plans created by interdisciplinary expert groups. Many young patients can participate in clinical trials, ensuring access to new treatment options.
